Amazon expects to hire more than 300,000 workers to fill part-time, full-time, and seasonal jobs for U.S. holiday season operations. The hiring begins this month, according to a Seeking Alpha report, and represents a 20% increase over hiring in recent years. Workers hired as seasonal associates will be paid $20 an hour, with full-time workers starting at that rate and possibly higher as the average hourly pay at Walmart is about $24.

For the first time, Amazon will offer seasonal employees working at least 30 hours a week health care coverage with plans costing $5 a week.
